Way to the West

This multi-media presentation by local artist and writer couple combines a matched set of watercolour paintings and poems that focus on the very western tip of Cornwall and, hence, of England. The distinctiveness of the area – its geographical remoteness, beautiful and sometimes harsh natural features and independent cultural identity – are among the themes explored. The sense of Cornwall’s separateness from the rest of England, its abiding attraction as a holiday location, the emotional and psychological effects on visitors to the area, the varying and often dramatic moods of its weather and sea, and the resilience and bravery of its local inhabitants all feature in the presentation.
