DESCRIPTION:Come and Sing day in St Mary’s Church Wirksworth hosted by Wirksworth Community Choir with Musical Director Adam Green \nWe will be singing Vivaldi’s Gloria (Ricordi edition) as the main event with two of Handel’s Coronation Anthems: Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice as the support acts\nAdam will be leading the Gloria workshop and Lynn Dean will lead the Coronation Anthems; Tim Capes will accompany on St Mary’s Church Organ.\nScores will be available on the day (Ricordi edition)\nRehearsals start at 10am with registration from 9.30am; hot and cold drinks will be provided as well as homemade cakes in the afternoon. It would be helpful if you brought your own mug.\nThere are various eateries in Wirksworth for lunch or bring a pack-up.\nWarm layers if it is a cold day and dark clothes for the performance – it is a good idea to bring a cushion!\nYou are also invited to join WCC for 3 weekly rehearsals 25th Sept\, 2nd & 9th Oct at Wirksworth Junior School DE4 4FD\, 7.45 pm where you can also access scores. We ask for a small donation of £4 per session to help with choir expenses. \nThere will be a performance at 5pm.

And for those who haven’t seen him\, you’re in for a treat.\nGuitarist & composer Dr Aziz Ibrahim currently an experimental solo digital artist working in the Arts sector\, lead guitar with the Pakistani band ‘Overload’ and the EDM collective ‘Fret Sector’ as well as still playing an active role in the mainstream music industry.\nIbrahim is known for his role & work as lead guitarist for Simply Red\, The Stone Roses and several internationally acclaimed bands and artists including Ian Brown\, Paul Weller\, Steven Wilson\, Asia\, Rebel MC & Errol Brown (Hot Chocolate). Aziz has worked in many genres of music including recording or performing with reggae artists Dennis Brown\, Barrington Levi & Freddy McGregor.\nHis solo works include his acclaimed album telling the story of his family’s journey from Lahore To Longsight‘ \, the EP ‘Middle Road‘ \, and album ‘Rusholme Rock with Tabla master Dalbir Singh Rattan’\, all showcasing his unique blend of progressive rock and Asian Blues.\nA passionate supporter of music education initiatives\, The British Council selected Aziz to tour and lecture in Libya\, Syria\, Tunisia\, Morocco\, Jerusalem\, India\, Pakistan and Bangladesh for several years\, performing live and delivering lectures to young people and students from Universities and Colleges.\nAfter working closely with The University Of Salford 2018 Aziz Ibrahim was awarded ‘Doctor of Arts‘ honoris causa in recognition of his work in music\, culture\, equality and as a role model to many working class young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
